ASSIGNMENT

0:06 and 0:15 spots featuring Sam Adams’ Winter Lager seasonal beer. The first concept centered around Thanksgiving tablescape with the quintessential Thanksgiving dishes: beautiful golden brown turkey with Fall fruits, jammy cranberries with orange zest, buttery dinner rolls, sweet potatoes with candied pecans and marshmellows,  green bean casserole with fresh onions and mushrooms. The second concept featured a 5 level ‘champagne’ tower (55 coupes total!) for a celebratory beer pour.

ASSIGNMENT

0:06 and 0:15 spots for Sam Adams’ Just The Haze non-alcoholic beer. When talent needs to open beer cans on camera, the tab alignment is critical for a natural, one-handed motion while keeping the label clearly visible. Depending on the actor’s dominant hand, the camera angle, and the direction of the shot, it’s often impossible to know in advance which way the tabs should face. That’s why, as a drink stylist, it’s essential to request many cases of beer from the client. Having extra cans allows you to sort and select the ones with perfectly positioned tabs for on-camera use, ensuring the opening looks effortless, the label reads clearly, and the performance feels seamless.

ASSIGNMENT

0:06 and 0:15 spots for Sam Adams’ Summer Ale seasonal beer.   In some beer shots, achieving a perfect, controlled pour requires a combination of subtle physical tricks and tools. One technique involves using a beer glass cutter to remove the bottom of the bottle. While the bottom isn’t visible on camera, this allows the beer to flow more easily and consistently when pouring. I then used a beer bong from the back end of the bottle to guide the liquid through the bottle neck into the pint glass in a smooth, controlled stream. This approach ensures that the pour looks natural and continuous on camera, with minimal splashing or uncontrolled foam, while keeping the bottle neck—the part visible to the viewer—intact and visually perfect. By pre-planning the flow with these tools, multiple takes can be executed efficiently, maintaining consistency, clarity, and a polished appearance in both stills and motion shots. The result is a seamless, elevated presentation that makes the beer feel fresh, perfectly poured, and ready to enjoy. Beer bong: a technical necessity, a legitimate business expense, a genius unconventional tool—always stowed away and at the ready in my beverage styling tool kit!
