Food & Drink Styling
for Video

I support video, commercials, ads, social content, and large-scale brand campaigns with a production-minded approach, meaning I’m thinking beyond just how something looks in a single frame and understanding how it functions within the larger ecosystem of a shoot: being aware of timelines, budgets, crew flow, and shot lists; understanding how lighting, camera movement, and lens choice affect the food or beverage; styling in a way that supports continuity across multiple takes, final aspect ratios, and scene crops; prepping backup hero products and resets to keep the day moving efficiently; and anticipating problems before they slow down production.

In other words, it’s not just about making something beautiful—it’s about making it beautiful within the realities of production. A production-minded stylist collaborates closely with directors, DPs, producers, and clients, understands how to work on a commercial set, and makes decisions that protect both the creative vision and the schedule. It’s equal parts artistry and logistics—my secret sauce (pun intended) as a food and drink stylist when it comes to videography work!

Unlike still photography, where a moment is captured in a single frame, video requires repeatable action—controlled pours, precise swoops, steam hits, garnish drops, and utensil movements executed with technical consistency take after take. I love the challenge of executing controlled, repeatable action that holds up across multiple takes, camera angles, and lighting shifts.

For beverage work, achieving the perfect pour with the right foam head, carbonation level, glass chill, and label placement requires hands-on expertise in real time. Timing becomes everything: knowing when to cue the pour for the camera, how to maintain continuity between shots, and how to reset quickly without compromising quality. Having a dedicated stylist ensures that every movement feels natural yet intentional, elevated yet believable—so the final footage looks effortless, appetizing, and polished under the scrutiny of motion.

Motion is choreography. Every swoop, sprinkle, dip, and pour must feel spontaneous while being meticulously controlled, like precise fork twirls of pasta that feel effortless but don’t collapse between takes, slow knife slices through tender proteins that reveal a perfectly cooked interior, syrup drizzles that fall at just the right viscosity, or cheese pulls that stretch naturally without breaking too soon. It can mean timing the crack of an egg so the yolk lands perfectly in frame, cueing steam at the exact moment a lid lifts, orchestrating a clean burger build with intentional ingredient placement, or refreshing herbs and delicate garnishes so they look vibrant under hot lights.

Whether on large studio sets in Los Angeles, on location in San Francisco, rolling vineyards of San Luis Obispo, the beaches of Santa Barbara, my goal is always to deliver final footage that feels dynamic, appetizing, and truly premium. Lights, camera, action, baby! Let’s go!
